Job Description: 

Job Summary:

Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) with strong expertise in managing Oracle RAC environments on IBM AIX platforms. Responsible for installation, configuration, tuning, and administration of Oracle databases in high-availability clustered setups, ensuring performance, reliability, and disaster recovery readiness.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters) on IBM AIX.
  • Manage Oracle Grid Infrastructure and ASM (Automatic Storage Management).
  • Perform database cloning, patching, and upgrades (including PSU/CPU patches).
  • Monitor and tune database performance, storage usage, and system health.
  • Implement and maintain backup/recovery strategies using RMAN, Data Guard, and other tools.
  • Perform regular failover and switchover testing for high availability and disaster recovery.
  • Work closely with Unix system administrators on AIX-level configurations and tuning.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex database/system issues including RAC node failures, network issues, and storage bottlenecks.
  • Maintain database documentation, operational procedures, and technical standards.
  • Implement data security best practices and support audit requirements.
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call support rotation for production environments.

 

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 10+ years of Oracle DBA experience with at least 5+ years in RAC on AIX.
  • Strong experience with Oracle 12c/19c RAC, ASM, and Grid Infrastructure.
  • Proficient in IBM AIX operating system (v7.x), including shell scripting and LVM management.
  • Experience with Oracle Data Guard, RMAN, and OEM (Oracle Enterprise Manager).
  • Familiarity with networking and storage configuration in a clustered environment.
  • Hands-on experience with troubleshooting RAC node issues, interconnect configuration, and clusterware.
  • Understanding of Oracle licensing, patching, and upgrade paths.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with cloud integration & migration (e.g., Oracle Cloud Infrastructure or GCP\AWS).
  • Familiarity with third-party backup tools (e.g., NetBackup, CommVault).
  • Knowledge of Oracle GoldenGate or Streams for replication.

 

Certifications (preferred):

  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) – DBA or RAC specialization.
  • IBM Certified AIX System Administrator (nice to have).
