Job Title: Lead Microsoft Dynamics 365 Project Operations & HR Functional Consultant

Experience

7–12 years of ERP / CRM experience with strong end‑to‑end Dynamics 365 Project Operations and HR/HCM implementation exposure, including solution leadership, integration design, and stakeholder management.

Role Summary

We are looking for a Lead D365 Project Operations & HR Functional Consultant who can design, configure, and implement solutions across the project lifecycle and employee lifecycle. The role involves bridging business requirements with D365 system functionality, driving fit‑gap analysis, enabling project financials and resource management, and ensuring seamless integration with Finance & Operations (F&O). The consultant will work closely with PMOs, HR leaders, finance stakeholders, and delivery teams to deliver scalable, governed solutions.

Key Responsibilities

1) Requirements, Fit‑Gap & Solution Design

  • Lead business workshops with PMO, project managers, finance controllers, and HR stakeholders.
  • Gather and translate business requirements into D365 Project Operations and HR solution designs.
  • Perform FIT/GAP analysis and recommend configurations, integrations, or extensions aligned with platform best practices.
  • Prepare and own Functional Requirement Documents (FRDs), process flows, and solution blueprints.

2) Project Operations Functional Ownership

  • Configure and implement end‑to‑end Project Operations, including:
    • Project lifecycle setup
    • Work Breakdown Structures (WBS)
    • Project budgeting and forecasting
    • Project quoting and contract management
    • Resource scheduling and assignment
    • Time and expense management
  • Strong understanding of project accounting concepts, including:
    • Costing, billing, revenue recognition
    • Actuals vs forecasts
    • Project profitability and financial controls
  • Ability to design project models for professional services / project‑based delivery organizations.

3) HR / HCM Functional Exposure

  • Configure and deploy Dynamics 365 HR (Human Resources) capabilities, including:
    • Organizational structures
    • Employee lifecycle management
    • Position, job, and worker data
  • Exposure to HR processes such as:
    • Onboarding and employee administration
    • Benefits, time off, or talent processes (as applicable)
  • Ensure alignment between HR, Project Operations, and Finance for resource and cost management.

4) Finance Integration & Platform Connectivity

  • Strong experience configuring and validating Project Operations integration with F&O, including:
    • Dual‑write for project, resource, and financial data synchronization
    • Alignment of project financials with GL and sub‑ledgers
  • Functional understanding of how Project Ops interacts with Finance modules for billing, revenue, and accounting.
  • Ability to troubleshoot cross‑platform data flow issues with technical teams.

5) Platform, Tools & Automation Exposure

  • Functional exposure to Dataverse‑based architecture underpinning Project Operations.
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Power Platform (Power Automate for approvals, alerts; Power BI for project and resource reporting)
    • Integration with Microsoft Project for the Web for planning and scheduling
  • Ability to identify automation opportunities within project and HR processes and guide governed implementation.

6) Testing, Training & Change Enablement

  • Lead and support SIT and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Prepare test scenarios, test cases, and validation checklists.
  • Create user documentation, SOPs, and training material.
  • Conduct end‑user and administrator training sessions and ensure adoption readiness.

7) Delivery Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the functional lead for Project Operations and HR workstreams.
  • Collaborate closely with:
    • Technical architects and developers
    • Finance and HR teams
    • Program and project managers
  • Serve as the primary functional point of contact for senior stakeholders, translating business objectives into system outcomes.

Required Skills & Experience

Must‑Have

  • Strong hands‑on experience with D365 Project Operations.
  • Functional exposure to Dynamics 365 HR / Human Resources.
  • Proven experience in full‑lifecycle D365 implementations (design to post‑go‑live).
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Project management methodologies
    • Project accounting and revenue recognition
    • Resource staffing and utilization
  • Ability to bridge business, functional, and technical teams effectively.

Good to Have

  • Prior experience in professional services, IT services, or project‑centric organizations.
  • Exposure to multi‑entity or global project delivery models.
  • Reporting exposure using Power BI / project analytics.

Education & Certifications (Preferred)

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, IT, Finance, or related field.
  • Microsoft certifications (preferred):
    • Dynamics 365 Project Operations Functional Consultant
    • Dynamics 365 Human Resources Functional Consultant
