Job Description: 

 

The Financial Accountant will supervise day-to-day financial transactions, support project accounting, and ensure accurate reporting across manufacturing and service operations, working closely with project managers, procurement, engineering, and leadership teams.

 

Key Position Accountabilities

Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Supervise month-end close, perform balance sheet reconciliations, prepare management accounts and ensure ledger integrity

  • Ensure ATO compliance (BAS, GST, FBT), coordinate year-end audit and produce financial statements

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Provide analysis on financial performance vs budget and forecasts and collaborate with teams on cost drivers and projections

  • Coordinate forecasting processes and assist in annual budgets and strategic financial plans

Inventory & Project Cost Accounting

  • Lead inventory reconciliation, analyse inventory movement, forecast requirements and maintain balance sheet integrity

  • Track project cost allocation, monitor profitability/WIP, and liaise with project managers on variances

Payroll Processing & Control

  • Process payroll, onboarding, records, terminations and resolve discrepancies

  • Ensure compliance with payroll obligations and prepare payroll reconciliations

Process Improvement & System Administration

  • Analyse workflows, identify automation opportunities and enhance internal controls

  • Maintain finance policies, Chart of Accounts, cost centres and system updates

 

Key Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in manufacturing/FMCG, construction, or logistics

  • Experience in Australian payroll is required

  • Understanding of inventory valuation, cost allocation, and WIP accounting

  • Advanced MS Excel and ERP systems skills
